Bring RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 Back To Britain

RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 (or QE2) is something that probably most people from Britain know. A ship built by John Brown and Company Shipbuilders on the River Clyde in Glasgow from 1965 until 1967. Some say she was one of the finest ships to sail the seas. In her forty two years of active service with Cunard, thirty seven of these were as the flagship of the Cunard Line, only to be overtaken by the grand and impressive RMS Queen Mary 2.

So why is it, something so significant to British history, is standing derelict in a dock in Dubai? The once world famous ship, registered in Southampton, is now registered to an investment company in Dubai called Istithmar (Arabic for 'investment').

Former Cunard ship RMS Queen Mary is now preserved as a floating hotel in Long Island, California. Even HMS Belfast has been retained as a museum ship on the River Thames, and Belfast isn't even one of the most renowned ships in British history.

So why is it that such a vital ship in Britain's naval history, something that gave our shipbuilders soemthing to be proud of, is being left derelict witha future dubbed as ''uncertain'', thousands of miles away from her home.

This petition, should you sign it, aims to bring her back to where she truly belongs. Whether it be docked on the River Clyde, or berthed in Southampton, she should be back on our waters!
