Bringing halt to futile renaming of Indian cities

Crores of Indian Rupees has been spent in this exercise to adjust the spelling in English language to the spelling in the local language and thus to correct misspellings or Anglicisation introduced by the British colonial authorities. I would until the end of my life prefer to say "Bombay" in my conversations whereas Bengaluru is still almost universally referred to as Bangalore. The International airlines still refer to Mumbai as BOM as part of its 3-alpha airport naming codes and Chennai as MAA.
Who makes these decisions to rename cities? Why isn't a national consensus taken in this regard? Isn't changing the name of a city a 'business' of all Indian citizens rather the local goons of TDK, MNS or Shiv sena
This is a petition to bring back the old name of Bombay & Bangalore for the sake of the generation that grew with it and is dear to their hearts. Bring a legislation that makes it mandatory to have consensus from all in the parliament and both the houses, before any other city / state renaming exercise happens in India at the expense of taxpayers money.
