Sasha and Patrick McGregor have been married for 4 years. Sasha is a Canadian by birth, but is also a resident of Jamaica. Patrick is a Jamaican citizen, and their 1st son is a dual citizen. Patrick has never been allowed into Canada to visit his family.
Patrick is a University educated man, employed and comes from a wonderful family. He has never had a criminal background. Sasha is a student of Law Enforcement in Canada and pregnant with their 2nd child. Sasha has 3 children from a previous marriage. Patrick supports all of the children financially. Sasha has recently been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and a thyroid condition. SHE NEEDS HER HUSBAND to help with family responsibilities in more than just a financial way.
Over the last 5 years, Sasha has had to continuously travel back and forth to Jamaica in order to be a family with her husband, and share the family rights with her husband and enable her children to have a relationship with Patrick. This is hard not only on finances but also with scheduling, planning, finding someone to watch her 3 older children that cannot come with her everytime, travelling expenses, loss of school time, etc.
Now the time is drawing nearer, with only 6 weeks left to go in her current pregnancy and once again the Canadian Government has denied Patrick the simple pleasure of seeing his last child be born. The Government stated that Patricks family ties to Canada are too strong. TOO STRONG? How could someone love their family too strongly that they are not permitted to be with their wife during child birth? This is ridiculous. This nonsense needs to end, and we need your help to allow Patrick and Sasha and their children be a family.
Canada, you must stop denying the right to be a family.
Please show your support by signing this petition that we will be bringing to the Canadian Government. We need to help families be brought together, not torn apart.
As of today, it has been 5 months since the family has been together. Please help them be reunited.
