Canadians Advocacy for Gas price change

Recently the CCPA (Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives) published a report showing that we as Canadians are being gouged at the gas pump an average of 15 - 25 cents per liter. While we have known this for some time, the government has never been willing to do anything about it without proof. Now that this report has been published, the government has stated that it will do nothing about gas prices due to the fact that gas regulation has not worked in the past elsewhere. While I can understand that it may not have worked elsewhere I would like to ask what if anything IS being done regarding this obvious breach of trust by the gas companies, and ask that something be done.
