County Executive Mangano, Stop the Lawsuit Against NIFA

We, the undersigned residents of Nassau County, do hereby call on County Executive Ed Mangano to immediately cease his frivolous, taxpayer funded lawsuit challenging the power of the Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA) to institute a control period over County finances. NIFA has determined that the County Executive's 2011 budget has a deficit of more than one percent, which, by State law, automatically triggers a control period.
This lawsuit will be costly, lengthy, and will embroil Nassau County in needless litigation for the foreseeable future. We urge the County Executive to use this as an opportunity to work with NIFA to put the Countys finances back on track. This is the time to build bridges, not burn them. Under the guidance of NIFA, we can get past politics and back to governing.
As taxpayers of Nassau County, we urge the County Executive to drop his counter productive lawsuit and to work with the financial professionals who can put Nassau County back on track.
