This past summer it happened again.
Early on Sunday morning, 26 June 2006, Gilad Shalit was abducted by Palestinian militants who attacked an Israeli army post on the Israeli side of the southern Gaza Strip border after having crossed through an underground tunnel near the Kerem Shalom border crossing. During the morning attack, two IDF soldiers were killed and three others wounded, aside from Shalit, who himself suffered a broken left hand and a light shoulder wound after his tank was hit with an RPG.
Eldad Regev, an Israeli soldier, born in Qiryat Motzkin, was captured by Hezbollah fighters along with Ehud Goldwasser on 12 July 2006, in Israel near the Lebanese border, sparking the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. His rank is First Sergeant. To this day their whereabouts are unknown.
The intervention of the international community is desperately needed. Teen Rally has launched an international campaign to gather as many signatures on an Internet petition in support of Israel's kidnapped and missing soldiers and their families as possible.
