Freelance Dance Artists support a Dance House In Amsterdam North

The Amsterdam City Council will decide shortly about funding a Dance House in Amsterdam North This will be discussed on 6 February in the KSZ Commission. This petition will show that there is support for this among freelance dance artists living and working in the city.
We, freelance dance artists living or working in Amsterdam agree that:
-there has been for years a shortage of affordable good quality studio space,
-that in Amsterdam there is no real center for freelance dance artists where they can train, rehearse, produce, mount and show pieces as well as meet each other, and
-that the constant travelling between spaces prevents synergy and better cooperation.
-that the creation of this center will give a great boost locally, nationally, and internationally to the dance art in Amsterdam.
We ask the municipality to support the creation of a Dance House on the Overkant in Amsterdam North, where freelancers as well as the city dance production house (Dansmakers - www.dansmakers.nl), the city dance company (Emio Greco l PC/ ICK Amsterdam- www.ickamsterdam.com) and the training facilty (Henny Jurriens Foundation- www.hjs.nl) can share one large space and where a number of studios will be guaranteed for freelancers.
