With a Dome Stadium almost a certainty, we want a tenant that fits. With so few seats proposted, there will be no SEC Championship games coming, there will be no BCS Bowl Games; however, the perfect tenant would be an MLS team. Soccer has always done well in Birmingham, Alabama. Birmingham hosted olympic soccer, has had many USA Mens National Team Friendlies, and even World Cup Qualifiers. This petition will be presented to both the Jefferson County Commission and the Mayor of Birmingham. Also, this petition will be presented to the United States Soccer Federation and MLS for consideration in future pre-season games, friendlies and qualifiers. We want to show everyone that we would support a Soccer team.
