Nandos, the restaurant chain, is universally known for its high standard of service, dedication and increasing popularity across the globe. More importantly, its PERI-PERI cuisine has captured the world with its delightfully tantalizing taste coupled with a desire to please every community it touches.
In its mission statement listed on the website, Nandos states that they want each Nandos restaurant to be individual reflecting the local characteristics of each area.
As Muslims of Bristol, we feel deprived and far-removed from the service Nandos has to offer its local community. Bristol is one of the oldest cities in the United Kingdom to be inhabited by Muslims. The current census places the Muslim population of Bristol to over 40,000 this number only drastically increasing during university term-time due to international & national students studying at Bristol.
Whilst Nandos provides other major cities around the UK with Halaal chicken we feel quite disappointed with Nandos lack of enthusiasm to please the majority.
The aim of this petition is to vocalise the already inherent dismay amongst the Muslims of Bristol (community and students alike) at Nandos stubborn attitude, despite an inundation of requests. We should not have to experience Halaal Nandos many miles away at Manchester or Cardiff or Birmingham, whereas it is clearly possible at our own vicinity.
We heartily propose that Nandos serves Halaal chicken (that which is in concordance with the regulations of the Shariah) in at least ONE of its Bristol branches.
