Increased penalties for those convicted of domestic animal cruelty

1. People convicted of domestic (pet) animal cruelty being given lifetime bans on keeping all animals rather than just ban them from keeping the animal that they were being cruel to, as who is to say, that someone who is banned from keeping dogs isnt going to become cruel to cats instead.
2. We would also like to see fines increased dramatically. After deduction of costs, the remainder of the fine could then be distributed to animal welfare charities and organisations such as the RSPCA, NCDL, PDSA and Battersea Dogs Home etc.
3. Finally, we would like the more serious offenders serving longer custodial sentences. All too often, cases where the animal has been hurt, tortured or killed in a barbaric manner serve less than a year in prison. If some of the attacks were upon another human being, be it woman, child or man, the punishment would be much tougher.
