The Johnston County animal shelter continues to kill unwanted animals in the GAS CHAMBER. This method is inhumane, unsafe, and stressful to workers. Even the sick, injured, pregnant, puppies, and elderly animals are put to death by gas. I'm just one concerned citizen who wants this changed to euthanasia by injection. This method is painless, faster, and more cost effective. It would put an end to the suffering that accompanies death in the gas chamber. Our county euthanizes 4800 per year.
The use of injections is the number one recommended way by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Humane Society of the United States and the American Humane Association. The American Humane Association considers EBI the only acceptable method for euthanasia of dogs and cats in animal shelters. However, some shelters, mainly county operated, still use the gas chamber. Johnston Countys chamber holds up to EIGHT DOGS BEING EUTHANIZED AT ONE TIME!!! So Please Sign This So We Can Help Stop This Unhuman Way To Kill This Poor Animals!!!!!!!!!

the use of gas chambers is very outdated and inhumane. I am a shelter technician and I euthanize animals for one reason or another everyday. we use lethal injections and this is very painless and the animal passes away
