SUNSET JUNCTION STREET FAIR PETITION

For two days in August, a joyful throng of thousands of people has joined in a celebration of neighborly sharing, fun and good will. The occasion has been the Annual Sunset Junction Street Fair. The fair has become a tradition in Silver Lake, Echo Park and Los Feliz neighborhoods. It is a tradition that is bringing the disparate ethnic, racial, and social groups that make up the densely populated section of Los Angeles.

For the first fifteen years The Sunset Junction Street fair was more of a meeting place for same minded individuals to gather and celebrate in a close knit community that was as diverse as it was creative. In no time the festival became a beacon and a meeting place for individuals from all over Southern California, and now the country to gather and share ideals while at the same time tasting a little of the Sunset Junction flavor. Taking advantage of our popularity we have chosen to give back to the community that has giving those of us with no voice a platform to voice our opinions and concerns. Sunset Junction Neighborhood Alliance (SJNA) created and still continues to nurture programs created to give a haven to those who had no place to go. Sadly the majority of those where youth, so in seeing a need for youth at risk programs SJNA took it upon themselves to create.

4. Weekly 12 step programs
5. Tsunami Coffee House
6. Sunset Junction Street Fair

In a time of recession and city cut backs this is when we need not only the residents of Sunset Junction, but those of you in the surrounding areas that support the fair to help us maintain a community that was created by the Sunset Junction Street Fair. Even though faces have come and gone Sunset Junction will always be a legacy of those few who choose to take a stand for what they believed in and still do.
