Pets Corner was a pets shop located at 110 Malden Road, London NW5 4BY
On Wednesday 11th May 2011 the police and the RSPCA broke into the property after the shop had remained closed for a week. What they found was horrifying.
Pipkin, a rabbit only a few weeks old was found in a small cage snuggling up to its dead sister. A turtle was dead. Amongst other animals, baby rabbits, parrots, cockatoos, chinchillas, iguanas, snakes and a turtle where left in the basement of the shop with no food, no water, no ventilation, no heating (important for snakes), no lighting - for at least a week. Pipkin, the few week old rabbit was "was discovered cowering as loose snakes and other ravenous exotic animals hunted for food in the dingy basement"
Mayhew officer Zoe Hubbard, said: “It was a dark and dingy place. There were flies everywhere and rat poo all over the floor. There was no lighting. The walls were rotten."
Here is the crunch of the situation:
A Town Hall spokeswoman said: “Camden Council [the local authority] takes animal welfare very seriously and is CONSIDERING a prosecution in this instance.”
"CONSIDERING"!
This petition will be handed to Camden Council to show them we care about poor Pipkin and his friends, sign the petition and show your support for these helpless animals.
Nothing can bring the animals back, nothing can undo the untold damage they have suffered, but somebody is responsible and we want the maximum penalty to be enforced. £20'000 fine and 51 weeks in prison, for these murderers. If they are allowed to walk free, we'll be saying that neglect and abuse of animals is OK!
