Keller Citizens - Let's Keep our Cans!

The following petition is to demonstrate to Keller's city council that Keller citizens are very concerned at Allied Waste's new policy of enforcing the 33 gallon garbage can size limit. Our concerns include:
1) Many of us already have PURCHASED larger trash cans on wheels which are a sturdy basic type we purchased at stores like Home Depot. Most of us were not even informed by the city that there was a size limit. Allied Waste has been collecting trash from larger bins for years.
2) The larger trash cans better contain the larger amounts of garbage families generate vs. a smaller can. Therefore people are less likely to have bags of trash sitting at the curb that can blow or animals can get into.
3) What is the plan for REMOVAL and DISPOSAL of the likely HUNDREDS of cans that now don't meet the requirement.
4) The larger cans do not BLOW away down the street causing traffic hazards like the lighter cans do.
5) If hundreds of families in Keller must now purchase new cans before Feb. 1, the SUPPLY of smaller cans is likely not available.
Our understanding is for $5/month per household that larger cans would have been allowed in the contract.
Everyone who signs this petition is stating we would be prepared to pay $5/month more for having larger cans. Please respond to the community on this issue.

The larger cans are equipped with a bar intended to allow the can to be lifted by a hydraulic device. I have witnessed with my own two eyes that the Allied trucks are equipped with such a device and that they do in fact use it wh
