Lake Tyler Hydrilla

Our argument is simple and direct. Lake Tyler West is void of Hydrilla, however it is a part of the lake in wherein ski and recreational activity is abundant. This Petition is not designed to turn all of Lake Tyler into an Outdoorsmans paradise, but to instead give the fisherman an opportunity to catch non-native fish (Florida Bass) in non-native habitat (Hydrilla). The coves, main lake points, and summered Hydrilla in certain places are not prohibiting ski activity or affecting the way of life in the Lake Tyler Community. It is this non-native Hydrilla that has made Lake Fork, as well as many other lakes, great fisheries. Hydrilla and cover in a lake is proven and documented to produce bigger and more abundant fish.
Another facet of our argument is that the tax payer that may never see Lake Tyler are paying for this Hydrilla to be killed. At a cost of $1,000.00, or more, per acre, the City of Tyler is killing off Hydrilla for a small percentage of the population using the lake. The home owners and recreational boaters are the ones in control of this wasteful spending.
It is time for our opinion and voice to be heard. By signing this Petition you are supporting the effort to keep Hydrilla in certain places on Lake Tyler East and letting your voice be heard that this wasteful Pet Project Spending shouldnt continue.
