Mary, 20 years old, was born in the UK in March 1990 but she was taken back to Nigeria by her parents when she was 6 or 7. Mary returned to the UK in 2004, when an aunt brought her to the UK on a visitors visa and left her in the care of a family friend whom she lived with until 2007. She applied for indefinite leave to remain in 2008, however the application was rejected because the solicitor applied using incorrect paperwork. She was detained by the UKBA in 2010 and remains in Yarl's Wood today. After the refusal of her asylum claim in June and the following refusal of her appeals she now has her 2nd set of removal directions scheduled for the 27 January at 8:45pm on a charter flight to Nigeria.

Mary has the right to humanitarian protection in the UK. She was born in the UK. The decision to take her back to Nigeria as a child was out of her control as she was a minor, as was the decision to move her back to the UK at 14. At 20 years old she has lived many of her formative years here. She has completed A-levels in Law, Sociology, government and politics. She was accepted to Bradford University for Law and Politics and was preparing to begin in September 2010 before being detained. Here in the UK she has formed a life with people from her church, friends from school, college. Mary has not maintained contact with her family in Nigeria and does not know their whereabouts. Also Mary has contributed to this country through working and paying her taxes and is a much loved and respected member of her community.

Mary should not be deported to Nigeria and should get leave to remain to stay in the UK where she has set up her life. Please show your support by signing this petition!
