Governments all over the world are too competitive. We all want unemployment to disappear; We all want living standards to go up; We all want world peace; but our politicians often seem more concerned about gaining our support than improving our province.
The partisan heads in the Ontario Parliament should meet in a non-argumentative meeting after every session of the House. There should be an impartial mediator/moderator (Lieutenant Governor, Speaker) to make sure things stay clean, and hopefully keep them thinking objectively. There will be no recorded transcription.
Parties have common goals- the only major disagreement in many matters is simply how to achieve those goals.
Forcing the partisan leaders to meet with each other in a supportive way will mean they can analyze issues without having to concern themselves with political tactics.
People of apparently vastly different political opinions will find they agree on much more than they thought, if only they would put partisan affiliations aside and work cooperatively to get things done. Benevolence transcends politics.
