Would you go shopping on the day of a loved ones passing, funeral or burial? The obvious answer is NO, you would only do what had to be done.
Why treat Remembrance Day any differently?
Too many people and businesses treat this day as a holiday. The meaning of it is being lost by our never stop mentality. I would like to see it declared a National Day of Mourning and be treated like a statutory holiday, but only allow essential services to be open on this day. The only way this can be done is by letting our Federal and Provincial governments Know that the time has come to address this issue.
Remembrance Day is supposed to be meant as a time of reflection and thanks, not one to make money.
