Manhunt 2 for UK

Recently, the British Board of Film Classification have banned the sale of the video game "Manhunt 2" for the Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii home consoles. We find this insulting to our liberty. We should have the freedom to play, watch, read and listen to what we wish, an organization such as this has no right to tell us what we can and cannot buy.

We won't deny, the video game in question is indeed violent. However, it is not intended for those under the age of 18, which the game's creators, Rockstar, have already stressed. As such, being a game aimed at adults, we should be the ones to choose whether or not we can play this game.

This petition isn't just about video games. Banning one video game for being violent means you can ban another, and another, and another until we are completely censored from everything. If a video game is going to be banned for one reason, why not films? or books? Or any sort of media which portrays something a censor board isn't happy with. This is an attack on our liberties, which we in the United Kingdom seem to take for granted.

I sincerely hope the BBFC will reconsider this judgment. This isn't just about being able to buy a video game in the UK, it is standing up for our rights for freedom to any sort of media.
