We, the undersigned, are citizens or visitors of the city of Chicago and we strongly oppose your decision to change the name of the landmark department store, Marshall Field & Company to Macy's. Marshall Field's has proven to be not only a popular department store, but also a historic and cultural icon with a very loyal customer base, composed of both locals and tourists. It is our belief that if the name change does occur, that thousands will refuse to continue conducting business there, thus harming the local economy enormously.
We urge you to reconsider your decision, and allow the Marshall Field's department store retain its historic name. Thank you very much for taking the time to consider our request.
