The town of Guildford has a rich history of musical prowess that is enjoyed by people of all age groups and ethnicities. This art form has a wealth of talent coming from the youth and should be encouraged in a society. It is felt by many that there is not enough premisis' for young artists to showcase their talent and it is going to waste. The presence of a 'contemporary arts academy' (ACM) shows that the Guildford has an interest in the musical scene. It is considered by a large number of people that the talent flowing through there is coming out the other side with no where to showcase and practice live shows. What is the use of training these young musicians and then the public not being able to enjoy their musical gifts?
The local music scene is thriving at the moment with many students graduating successfully from ACM each year. But what is the point, when they cant even perform their talents to their own home town?
More venues would encourage community spirit and give many restless people a place to enjoy themselves as well as encouraging many young people to take up this creative and positive art form.
