We, the undersigned, register our objection and opposition to the planned nuclear waste storage facility at Plymouth Devonport. Public Consultation begins in Autumn 2011 by the Submarine Dismantling Project for a nuclear waste storage facility to be based at the Royal Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, Camel's Head site. Decommissioned nuclear submarines and other vessels wil be dismantled over the next 35 years, with low and medium level nuclear waste stored in desiganted areas for between 45 and 100 years. The designated site is 150 metres from the nearest Primary School, and surrounded by high-density urban housing. The site for nuclear waste is adjacent to a proposed energy-from-waste incinerator burning waste at high temperature, and next to a proposed new jetty for the Royal Marines who will be transporting and carrying munitions. We believe this nuclear waste dump represents a significant risk to the health and safety of the environment, flora, fauna and entire human population of the City of Plymouth, East Cornwall and the South Hams of Devon, and must not be constructed. We demand a full and open Public Inquiry in advance of any decision or construction.
