Jean Chrйtiens business trip to Iran on the anniversary of Zahra Kazemis arrest and her death in the hands of Iranian officials for oil is a shameful, despicable and an unacceptable act.

The former Canadian prime minister is traveling to Iran in June 2004 as a special advisor to Calgarys Petrol Gas to close a deal with the Iranian regimes oil company. This deal will take place in a country that its officials murdered Zahra Kazemi, an Iranian-Canadian photojournalist a year ago. She was arrested on June 23-2003 for taking pictures of the detainee families who were demonstrating in front of the notorious Evin prison in Tehran. She was tortured and as a result was killed on July 11-2003 by the Khatamis so called reformist government.
Mr. Chrйtien was the prime minister at that time and knows all about Dr. Kazemis case. At that time the Liberal Party of Canada promised to follow her death and do what ever it takes to bring her body back to Canada, but it seems that the Liberals have forgotten that a citizen of this country has become a victim of the human right abuses in Iran.
Now Mr. Chrйtien a private citizen but still a Liberal, is going to Iran to make a deal with the same murderers who have imprisoned, tortured, and executed hundreds of thousands of Iranian men and women, to shake hands with the kidnappers and killers of writers, intellectuals and political activists in and outside of Iran and to sit with the most vicious being on the face of the earth that their only way of treating Iranians is stoning, amputations, lashing in public and destroying their self steam.
We know that Mr. Chrйtien is aware of these atrocities. The question is as a Liberal how could he close his eyes and ignore them?!
Its not a secret that the Iranian regime is doing what ever it can to get its hands on nuclear weapons and atomic bombs. The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) is monitoring regimes activities on this matter and even the EU (European Union) -mullahs biggest supporter- is getting restless. The Iranian regime has been giving away all of Irans natural resources to other countries for a long time in order to buy their silence and bribe them for their indifference to horrible violation of human rights in Iran in the various international organizations and committees. This trip is the continuation of this policy.
Canada as a known country of peace and a defender of human rights in the world has a responsibility, to support Iranian people who have been suffering for the past 25 years under mullahs dictatorship and stop all ties economically or otherwise with the regime of Iran immediately. Canada must recognize that the leaders of this regime are nothing but a bunch of blood thirsty terrorists who have taken Iranian people hostage and now are busy leading terrorist activities in Iraq.
We the members of the Iranian communities in Canada and abroad, name the month of June as a month of standing up and condemning Zahra Kazemis death by the officials of the regime in Tehran and we vow not to be silence.
Mr. Chrйtiens trip to Iran on the anniversary of Kazemis murder for oil is against every thing Canada stands for and it is against the interests of ordinary Iranians in and outside of Iran.
We the undersigned demand the cancellation of this trip whose only beneficiary is the Iranian regime.
