No to Re-Zoning Spence Farm for all that Density and Retail

WHEREAS South Independence Acquisition, LLC has applied for change of zoning of the property known as Spence Farm from R-5D and R-10 Residential District to Conditional A-12 and A-24 Apartment District and Conditional B-4 Mixed-Use District
WHEREAS South Independence Acquisition, LLC has received a recommendation by the Virginia Beach Planning Commission for approval of requested change of zoning
WHEREAS the Virginia Beach Comprehensive Plan calls for the property known as Spence Farm to be compatible to the density of existing neighborhoods
WHEREAS the Virginia Beach Comprehensive Plan calls for the property known as Spence Farm to include no additional retail uses
WHEREAS the Virginia Beach Comprehensive Plan calls for the property known as Spence Farm to include commuter and other transportation alternatives to the single-occupant automobile
WHEREAS the Virginia Beach Comprehensive Plan calls for the property known as Spence Farm to include an attractive, safe and convenient trail and bikeway network connecting the proposed employment centers to nearby residential areas
WHEREAS the Virginia Beach Comprehensive Plan calls for the property known as Spence Farm to provide a well-planned open space and landscape plan including an attractive internal trail system
WHEREAS we citizens of Virginia Beach require our City Council to be responsive to concerns regarding our quality of life,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Virginia Beach shall deny the application to change zoning of the property known as Spence Farm until such time that a proposal to do so meets with the spirit and intent of the City of Virginia Beach Comprehensive Plan. Be it further resolved that no zoning changes of said property will take place until such time that all additional nearby development be considered by the planning department with regard to traffic and public safety in concert with any development proposal.
This petition is submitted by the following citizens of the City of Virginia Beach:

This is completely insane to shove that many houses into that space...what about all the traffic congestion, the over-crowded schools?? Why is none of this taken into consideration?? It comes down to money, plain and simple and it really makes me sick!
