OLD ENOUGH TO ATTEMPT MURDER BUT NOT TO GO TO JAIL

I am a 20 year old female, who has been through hell the last 5 years of my life. I can hardly remember a day that I wasnt looking over my shoulder, worrying about my brothers safety or wondering if our home was under attack again.
My brother is currently lying in intensive care in a Glasgow hospital, struggling to wake up, struggling to move, re-living the horror he was put through.
My family has been under attack purely because of our race for years, this isnt always the case for young people. Sometimes it is because of the friends they keep or the area they stay in. Sometimes it is even to do with the school they attend.
One of my brothers attackers has been reprimanded in jail but is appealing for bail. The other attacker, who is 16, of which more evidence was found for his brutal attack but was granted bail. This is a boy who is already on bail and is facing charges of serious assault within the upcoming weeks. He has currently been mocking the justice system and sees this attack as another story to tell his hard boy friends.
How much longer is the age 16 going to allow young offenders to walk free to re-offend?
5 years my family suffered all because the boys were under the age or around the age of 16. If these offenders were treated as adults in the court of law they would not be on our streets re-offending hurting innocent people.
I personally dont understand that if at the age of 13-17 you can beat someone to the extent that they have brain damage or nearly die but youre not old enough to face an adult prison. What is our world coming to?
I am fed up of crossing the street when I see a group of youths; I am fed up of having to run for my life. When I get attacked I want to know that I can call the police and regardless of the age of the offenders they will be dealt with accordingly, because it is when I am attacked not if that is the life the majority of young people have grown accustom to.
Why should adults be afraid of children? The children are no longer afraid of the law, as our justice system no longer protects the victims as well as we hoped, it now protects the rights of the offenders. Not the victims.
If one voice shouts, thousands shall follow. I am aiming to gain the support of the victims of attacks. All victims, including family and friends. We all become victims. This is not my first time watching someone I loved in pain and I refuse to do it again. I do not want anyone to experience the heartbreak and fear I have every day of my life. Please sign this and use your voice to scream your anger.
We do dont need to be afraid, but we need to stand up and stop being victims.
I am a 20 year old female, and Im taking my life back.
