The basement of Carnegie is currently being remodeled to include classrooms, computer labs and faculty offices. This petition calls for these plans to be modified so as to include at least the equipment room and an editing lab, both of which were originally housed there, so that at least some of the inconvenience of IP is alleviated. If room is a problem, we suggest either that the equipment be housed in media tech in Willard or that, since the administration believes so strongly in IP, they should move their offices there and commute back and forth so that students can remain on the campus where they chose and paid to matriculate.
This petition calls for the editing lab computers at IP to be connected to the on-campus network, so students can work on any computer in any lab and not on only one designated computer.
This petition calls for allowing students to book editing time over the phone.
This petition calls for a fairer, extended equipment policy, allowing more than one day check-out.
This petition calls for the purchase of more equipment to increase the availability of equipment students need on a weekly basis.
This petition calls for every possible class (Comm 465, for example) to be moved back on campus. And in the event that a class needs to use the television studio, we suggest conducting class at IP on that day and that day alone.
This petition calls for a faster, more adequate bus service, one which goes downtown.
This petition calls for a campus police presence at IP to ensure the safety of all students.
This petition calls for the College of Communications to erect all future buildings on campus with the rest of the university.
This petition calls for the Comm. administration to put their students needs first.
If the College of Communications refuses to discuss these proposals to better their students lives, we, the undersigned, pledge to inform all prospective students who might consider Broadcast Journalism and Penn State in general of what they can expect from an administration that is deaf to their expressed needs and preferences and acts in imperious disregard of their convenience, safety and comfort.
