Petition against the cancelling of US Sport coverage on FIVE

Channel 5 have been covering US sport for years. You may be a fan of the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, or some of the other sports covered such as NASCAR or MLS. Today (20/12/08) I received this message from Nat Coombs, presenter of the NFL coverage on 5.

Hey fella - we just heard that FIVE are cancelling all US sports late night - so no more NFL for me and Mike after this season.
Having said that, if we can drum up as much noise as possible it may help the cause. Could you ping a message to the FB group asking them to send an email to FIVE - Dawn Airey or Robert Charles.

Mike Carlson also left this message on his Facebook group, conveying a similar message.

Five have decided to drop their late-night American sports studio shows. This means that the last three regular season games with be our last ones. The NHL has already been cancelled, NBA will finish their season, and MLB will not resume next season.
It is a cost-cutting measure, so if a way were to be found to pay the costs of studio production, these shows could return, but that's a long-shot at present.
I'll be doing the Super Bowl for the BBC, of course.
You could voice your disappointment to Dawn Airey and Robert Charles at Channel Five. They were supportive of the shows in principle, but couldnt justify the expense during a retrenching.

I personally watch all of the top 4 sports, particularly American Football and Baseball. If like me youre not a satellite subscriber, then five is definitely the main hub for all the action from across the pond. Not only this though, I thoroughly enjoy the coverage. I think all the presenters do a great job, and the analysis is top draw, especially compared to some of the American drivel.
