This petition should be signed by all who wish to say 'NO' to the Scottish Government's Proposal for the development of an 100 turbine windfarm, located alongside Robin Rigg in the Solway Firth.
The Scottish Government is proposing to increase the size of the wind farm in the Solway Estuary from 60 wind turbines to 160 125m high wind turbines. Robin Rigg currently covers 18 km2. The new wind farm, the Solway Firth Wind Farm, will cover a further 61 km2 of sea bed, will create a 'wall' of wind turbines accross the Solway and be highly visible from most coastal positions along the East Stewartry Coast (designated as a National Scenic Area). It will both industrialise and dominate the horizon. The Scottish Government has designated the Solway Firth Wind Farm as a 'short' term option and is pushing ahead with it in order to meet its sustainable energy targets for 2020.
This wind farm is just one of eight wind farms that the Scottish Government is 'proposing' to construct in the Solway and Wigtown Bay.
