Petition to Save the Affinity Credit Union Last Oak Branch

The Affinity Credit Union Last Oak Branch that is located on the Cowessess First Nation is closing on August 15th, 2014. Our Bank has been in our community since February 2009. The Bank has created jobs, invested in our Community and made life easier for our Band Members. In 2013 Affinity Credit Union donated $30,000 to the Cowessess Recreational Department for new vehicles as well as $3000 for the Tiny Tots Traditional Pow Wow. The Leadership of the Cowessess First Nation have failed to renew the lease on the Bank without consulting the Band Members or the Account holders at the Bank. As well, the Leadership have failed to inform the Members the reasons why the Bank is closing and so far have offered no alternative banking solutions. Cowessess and the surrounding areas rely on the Bank for the services they offer and closing the Bank will cause unnecessary hardship for low income people. Therefore, we are starting this petition in order to save the Bank from closing. We are informed that if we re-sign the lease before August the Bank will remain in our Community for another 5 years.
We the undersigned, Demand that the Leadership of the Cowessess First Nation (Defined as Quorum of Council) re-sign the lease on the Affinity Credit Union Last Oak Branch at the Cowessess First Nation Mall immediately.
