Woodstock Preservation Alliance Petition To Save The Site Of The Original 1969 Woodstock Festival

We the undersigned, urge you to consider an alternative to the current plans presented by the Gerry Foundation conderning the location of the 'Core Activities' of the Performing Arts (PA) district. Although the Woodstock Preservation Alliance supports the PA district concept, we do not wish to see buildings placed on any part of the 38 aces known around the world as " The Woodstock Site ". The Gerry Foundation has over 600 acres to build on. There is no need to spoil this historic site.
Tell the Gerry Foundation to find a different location for these buildings. Keep the Woodstock site free of structures and in its natural state. Find the endless possibilities for the future. Successful re-creations of the 1969 music festival could be Bethel's biggest attraction; something no one else in the world could offer.
We call on you, the good people of the Town of Bethel, to preserve these 38 acres, by not allowing ANY building on this land. This is your opportunity to give Sullivan County the attraction of having a World-Class Performing Arts District side by side with the Historic and tastefully preserved 'Woodstock Site'.
