Petition to the Provincial government to place regulations and controls over temp services.
We the undersigned to hereby petition the Rt Honorable,Charles Sousa,Minister of Labour, to act forthwith and place one or several of the following controls on Temp services currently operating within the Province of Ontario .
1. Temping services should be limited exclusively to providing temporary employment. The definition thereof being a three month term or less during times of peak production requirements.
2. Any person defined as a temporary worker shall receive the same wage as any employee of the client company for the same work performed.( We have this legislated for women and men now it should include all peoples...."Equal work for equal pay.")
3. At no time shall a client company of a temp service maintain a temporary workforce that exceeds 15% of the total number of full time employees.
4. WHMIS and safety training shall be done by the client company so as to alert temporary employees of company specific dangers and company specific evacuation routes.( In my experience I was never given any location training as to the location of the MSDS sheets or the fire evacuation routes).
5. It is the right of every temporary worker to be treated with the same respect and dignity extended to full time employees.
