We, the undersigned students and alumni, feel that the decision of the Kansas State University Music Department to deny re-appointment to Dr. Bruce Gbur for the 2008-2009 school year is a mistake. He is an asset to the department, which would be wounded without him. He is a superb teacher, imparting his vast knowledge of music with passion and humor. He is a superior musician, and is an acclaimed performer. He is a caring mentor, guiding his students with genuine concern throughout their college careers. He is a generous, warm human being who is a pleasure to know.
We ask that the Music Department and the College of Arts and Sciences continue to extend employment Dr. Gbur after the 2007-2008 school year. We feel that to do otherwise would be a travesty, and would have a profound negative effect on the double reed studio, the many classes that Dr. Gbur teaches, and the Music Department as a whole.

Dr. Gbur has done great things for the KSU Music Dept and the Tau Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha. Losing Dr. Gbur as a teacher, advisor, and friend would have a negative effect on the KSU Music program.
