Whereas, Fairfax County, Virginia's real estate assessments have increased dramatically for the third straight year;
Whereas, the average residential tax bill will increase by an estimated $427 this year if the tax rate is not decreased.
Whereas, this increase, added to the two prior years, will result in the average residential bill going up approximately 38\% in just three years.
Whereas, while this rapidly increasing tax burden affects all Fairfax County taxpayers, it is particularly damaging to retirees on fixed incomes and much of Fairfax's middle class;
Now, therefore, the undersigned, as taxpayers in Fairfax County, Virginia, demand that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors provide a meaningful real estate tax rate reduction, to at least partially decrease this rapidly increasing tax burden we have been experiencing.
