Refuse American Idol - Chris Cornell

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Chris Cornell refuse any offer by Fox/American Idol to appear on that program.

As a recording artist with more than twenty years of experience, spanning over thirteen studio albums thus far, we believe that Mr. Cornell does not need to visit the set of a TV show that is supposed to churn out instant stars, to validate his career, his talent, his music. He has worked through the trenches in the music industry and we see no reason, not even for increased exposure to an audience that likely does not know his work at all, for such an offer to be accepted. Because the audience for American Idol and the audience that follows Mr. Cornell rarely cross-over, we do not see any benefit for Mr. Cornell. Let his music and talent speak for itself, not some over-publicized, manufactured "reality show" take away from his credibility. Therefore should Fox approach Mr. Cornell with the prospect of appearing on American Idol in any shape or form, we request that he turn down such an offer.
