Request to Maintain Two Rows of Long Tables in Princetons Madison Hall

We request that plans for remodeling Madison Hall be reconsidered. As alumni of Princeton University, we love the majesty and grandeur of this dining hall; we fear that the proposed changes to its footprint would negatively impact the ambience of the space. We not only believe that the current arrangement of two rows of long tables is conducive to student interaction at mealtimes, but we also believe that this arrangement best complements the Gothic architecture of the hall. We do not object to proposed improvements in lighting and acoustics in the hall, nor do we object to purchasing new tables and replacing the current chairs with more comfortable alternatives. When this new furniture is purchased, however, we ask that it be of similar size and shape to the tables and chairs it is to replace. We do not want booths, barstools, small tables, or banquettes to be included in the remodeling of this dining hall.

I was in Wilson and thought it's dining hall looked so cheap and trashy compared to the majesty of Rocky. Don't make Rocky look like Wilson or Butler!
