Restricted Logins to Reduce Griefing

The recent changes to SL's registration policy has caused everyone in SL to experience massive loads of grief. Thanks to the open policy of SL's registration, any "script kiddie" who chooses can wreck the whole grid for up to days at a time with just a few minutes' effort.

We believe that SL will benefit as a whole by returning to a verification system, regulated by credit card numbers or paypal information; possibly even some other identifiable information for those who cannot provde those, even Social Security Numbers for those in the U.S. Some form of trackable information.

If you agree, please sign this petition as a way to show Linden Labs that the people of SL do not agree with this practice of opening the grid to anyone who can take 5 seconds to make an untrackable account, just to cause the rest of us grief later. We know this won't stop everything, but there is little doubt this can seriously slow down the attacks.
