Save BTS (Les Mills) classes at Penrith Leisure Centre

Penrith Leisure Centre has decided to withdraw the Les Mills exercise classes. If like me, you have grown accustomed and really enjoy the BTS classes such as Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Attack and Body Step, you may wish to sign this petition. Since the new owner has taken over the Eden District Contract for managing, maintaining and running Penrith Leisure Centre, these much loved classes have come under threat of total removal from the timetable. You may think because of the size of company concerned, putting up any resistance will be pointless. However, I feel if enough members or users express their concern this can persuade management to retract their decision. By taking over the Eden District Council contract, North Country Leisure has become an Eden District Council partner, and by doing so must maintain a commitment to the breadth of the activity on offer. They can change specific classes but their overall offer should remain, as a minimum, consistent with the programme at the start of the contract. If this is not the case, EDC should intervene. However this effort can only be made possible if all those members interested in ensuring long term stability of the Les Mills classes become involved and are very vocal in registering their concerns and dissatisfaction of the changes. Your silence will be viewed as an approval for North County Leisure to remove and make changes to the current timetable. North Country Leisure have suggested that the classes will be replaced by Fitness FX, this company charges a much lower licence fee. Therefore, Fitness FX obviously invests less money developing and changing the routines, educating the staff and the quality of music is limited.
