On Thursday 7th July, Salford City Council's Planning Panel rejected an outline planning application for 350 houses on the green-field land at Burgess Farm in Walkden. Panel members felt that the need for the houses had not been proven, and that the local highway infrastructure would not cope with the extra development.
However, the site remains allocated for development in the Council's draft Core Strategy, which is currently out for re-consultation. Should Burgess Farm remain in this planning guidance, it will be much easier for a developer to secure permission to build on the site in future.
We, the undersigned, call on Salford City Council to remove plans to develop Burgess Farm for housing from their draft Core Strategy.
