As a Toronto resident who regularly visits Far Enough Farm, I have freely signed this petition to express my anger at the City's plan to close Far Enough Farm Farm.
Far Enough Farm is a Toronto jewel that connects our complicated world to the simpler and serener aspects of current culture. Far Enough Farm has long been a place that children from all parts of Toronto and abroad have enjoyed and learned from since the 60s. Far Enough Farm is a public destination, a benefit to all in teaching urban children about farming and animals.
Each year thousands of families from many parts of Toronto as well as tourists from around the world enjoy this unique venue in every season. The ferries welcome over 1.3 million people annually and the farm is a wholesome, free destination for most of these people.
Island Public School children who mostly live in the condos on the waterfront and have little contact with nature, participate in maintaining the farm on a weekly basis. The Island Outdoor Science School also brings city children to the farm every week.
Joining my fellow neighbours, I have signed this petition to tell you that by closing the Far Enough Farm you will destroy an historic resource and destination for thousands of Torontonians who are content that a portion of their taxes support the Far Enough Farm.
I urge the City not to support closure of Far Enough Farm.
