Save Newark Drive Nursery School

Under "Proposal 21" of the "Education Estates Strategy 2009-12", Glasgow City Council will close the three Pollokshields nursery schools at Newark Drive, Nithsdale Road and Pollokshields Primary Annexe. In August 2009 they will open an "Early Years Centre" for 0-5 year olds in Melville Street, in the building that is now used as the annexe for Pollokshields Primary School.

Why fight the closure?

We believe that the main reasons given by the council for closure DO NOT apply to Newark Drive Nursery. We also believe the new Early Years Centre, with its lack of educational resources, will have a detrimental impact on our children at such an important time in their lives.
