Withdrawal of RPA Welfare Officer
Currently the RPA ET are reviewing the role of the RPA Welfare Officer. The RPA TUS have been campaigning for the last eighteen months to try and keep the RPA Welfare officer role.
Despite the fact that the RPA Welfare officers annually deals with 500 plus cases the aim is that it will be replaced by the Positive people company call centre helpline.
The TUS have canvassed a group of RPA employees to get their dealings with the RPA Welfare officer.
They felt that the Welfare Officer role was independent and provided a very professional service A face to face meeting can not be replaced by an impersonal telephone service. The Call centre will only be able to help with a very limited number of concerns rather than the Welfare role which currently covers 20 different issues. RPA Welfare Officer is aware of the overall issues that RPA staff face where as an independent call centre operator will be unaware of anything the RPA actually does.FIGHTING TO DEFEND
