Say No to Loirston Loch for AFC

We, the undersigned, ask Aberdeen City Council to reject the Loriston Loch site for the Community Stadium project, as put forward without consultation of the fans, by Aberdeen Football Club. We ask instead that you choose the King Links site for the preferred location by considering the following issues.

The Loirston site will not serve as a "community" facility due to the remote location, hence the whole idea is flawed from the start. However, the Kings Links site is easily accessible for all, thus providing a true community service.
The Loirston site does not have the appropriate transport infrastructure for such a facility. The very high majority of fans will be forced to drive or use a single insufficient bus service, causing traffic problems at all bridge bottle necks. There is no rail link, with the only possible location of a new station (if it were ever to get built) a few miles away in Cove or Altens.
The advantages of the Loirston site appear to be limited to those of a financial nature.
The AECC Arena and numerous other smaller venues already service the Aberdeen area for events such as concerts.
City centre businesses will suffer loss of trade from both home and away fans, before and after each game.
There will be a dramatic environmental effect on the Loirston loch region.

We, the forgotten fans, urge you to consider the points above and decide on the correct site based on reality, and also the wishes of those who will fund the project thru ticket sales. Without the fans backing, a potentially successful project like this could fail and be a major embarrassment for all concerned.
