We the undersigned request that attention be paid to the collection
of antique instruments in the possession of the Victoria and Albert
Museum, South Kensington, London, with reference to the proposed
removal from public display on 22/02/10. We request that all efforts
be made to prevent the instruments being put into storage, that,
should storage be unavoidable, it be for a finite, agreed period, and
that the secure fate of the instruments be decided before the display
is dismantled, delaying the 'decanting' of Gallery 40, if needed, to
protect and preserve these irreplaceable specimens.

1000. Allan S | As an early musician with many years experience, I regard this collection as a vitally important part of our musical heritage. These exhibits are irreplaceable, and must be given the care and attention they deserve.

999. Lisa B | During my career as a flautist I have performed and recorded extensively on a copy of the very important Bressan flute in the V&A. Breaking up this collection would inevitably hinder the next generation of instrument makers.
