Siemens & AT&T Wireless Windows Mobile 2003 Upgrade

On June 23rd, 2003 Microsoft Corporation announced the release of Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC, a new OS and application suite for Pocket PC PDA computing devices. Nearly all Pocket PC manufacturers, HP, Dell, Toshiba, Asustek, Fujitsu Legend, and Viewsonic have all announced upgrades for their devices. T-Mobile, a chief competitor of AT&T Wireless has also announced upgrades for their devices.
Unfortunately, Siemens Corporation and its US distributors AT&T Wireless have neglected to offer the Windows Mobile 2003 OS upgrades for the SX56 Pocket PC Phone Edition. The SX56 is a high-end Pocket PC 2002 computing and telecomunications device priced at the top-end of the Pocket PC 2002 device range. Why should SX56 Pocket PC Phone Edition PDAs be upgraded to Windows Mobile 2003? Microsoft sums up the benefits of Windows Mobile upgrades on their web site:

Microsoft then goes on to discuss that all Pocket PC 2002 devices are upgradeable to Windows Mobile 2003 technology.

Technically, all Pocket PC 2002 devices are capable of supporting the new Windows Mobile software for Pocket PC.

So, it is correct to say that Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition offers an enhanced customer usability experience and significant benefits. The new Windows Moble 2002 for Pocket PC also offers much needed patches, fixes, and functionality. Enhancing customer experience should be a primary focus for Simens and AT&T Wireless.

Without upgrades from Siemens and AT&T Wireless, users are relegated to purchasing brand new Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition devices at great expense. Are Siemens and AT&T Wireless milking consumers? As such, we users of SX56 Pocket PC Phone Edition devices are requesting that Siemens and AT&T Wireless offer a reasonable commercial Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC upgrade service or a Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade software package for the Siemens SX56 Pocket PC Phone Edition PDA..
