On January 22,2005,my daughter Gina Hunt(14), died after consuming an egg roll at a mall restaurant. According to a study by The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Netwok of 32 food-allergy induced fatalities, 63\% of the deaths were caused by peanuts. Currently, no state or federal law requires restaurants to train their staff on the danger of food allergy, or to post a sign informing their patrons that major food allergens such as peanuts are being used at their location. These requirements could help save lives. Please go on the record supporting the following initiative.
I, the undersigned, support the initiative to bring before the North Carolina General Assembly a bill requiring restaurants to train their staff on the danger of food allergy, and to post a conspicuous sign alerting their customers that peanuts and other food allergens are being used on the premises.
