We, the people of Black America, demand that Spike Lee produces a documentary that truly reflects living as a black person in the United States of America. After the debacle that was produce by CNN, we demand that Mr. Lee set forth a project that would truly be reflective of both the negatives and the positives of black life in this country (the United States of America). Although we commend the job that Soledad O'Brien tried to do [we really don't think it's her fault things turned out the way it did], we feel that someone of Mr. Lee's caliber, given his reputation, would be better suited to pull off what is needed to truly reflect black life. We demand that he pays equal time to the black woman, black man, and the black family. We demand that he explore the historical aspects of black people in this country, and also focus on the current situations of the modern times. We demand that he also focus on the systemic racism that is in place. We demand that he does not play into stereotypes that are already set forth in this country. We also demand that real solutions are set forth. Lastly, we demand that he speaks to the average black woman and man. He has to go into the neighborhoods like he did with his Hurricane Katrina documentary and talk to the people.
We, Black America, are just asking for a fair reflection of what it truly means to be Black in this country.
