Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins have been elected to the United States Senate to represent the voters of the State of Maine and to uphold the Constitution of the United States. The Sportsmen and women of Maine have been extremely instrumental in the political victories of both Senator Snowe and Senator Collins and we are tired of being used as political pawns to be pandered to when our vote is necessary, only to be ignored when our issues come up in Washington, D.C. These two Senators are two of the most liberal Republicans in the entire United States Senate.

Their last vote on the Amendments to S.1805 was the last straw. They both voted in favor of renewing the Clinton Assault Weapon Ban against the wishes of their constituency and knowing fully that it is an illegitimate ban based only on the cosmetic features of common firearms. Rather than follow the Republican Party platform and give President Bush a clean Bill (S.1805) with no anti-gun amendments, they joined Senator Kennedy, Senator Schumer, Senator Clinton, Senator Kerry and Senator Feinstein and voted in favor of this anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment legislation. We can no longer support those who refuse to support us.

Therefore:

Whereas we have been lied to and used as pawns in order to assist in the elections of Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins for the last several years, and

Our Rights and wishes have been ignored by these Senators in order to appease those living in Washington, D.C. and other areas, and

The very foundation of the Constitution of the Untied States of America, the Second Amendment, has been disregarded on several occasions by these Senators in order to further their political careers, and

These two Republican Senators refuse to align themselves with their political party and regularly vote in favor of the Democratic party platform

We the People, the Sportsmen and women of the State of Maine, hereby refuse to support Senator Olympia Snowe or Senator Susan Collins in any election in the future.

We give this notice to the Republican Party to provide us with candidates that will support us, as we support them, or we will have no choice but to lose control of the Senate in the upcoming election cycle. We will no longer support these rogue Senators and may indeed actively campaign against them in the future. As we have no support or real representation in Washington, D.C. with these Senators as our elected officials, we see no harm in allowing the Democrats to regain control of the Senate again as our Senators are currently allowing them to further their political agenda anyway.
