SSI Benefit Policy Change

I, TaNicka Whitaker, am writing this petition on behalf of my daughter Hannah. She was denied death benefits because of illegitimacy. Her father died 6 months before she was born and was unable to support her. The policy says that because he was unable to support her she isn't entitled to his benefits.

Hannah has many health issues she inherited from her father, who died of Cardiomyopathy at the age of 29. The government is robbing her of the medicines and care she needs because of this policy. I am looking to change all that.

I say that if paternity is established the benefits should be paid to the dependent child. If he were alive he would be made to pay child support. I fail to see how this is any different. I am asking you to help me change this policy for all of the children it effects. There are getting to be more and more illegitimate children all the time. They didn't ask to be born and they shouldn't have to live in poverty because of it.

Take a stand with me and lets make the government change benefit policy!
