Star Wars: Galaxies and stopping Subcribe-to-Play gaming

Dear Signatories and Sony Online Entertainment,

I am petitioning to end having to subscribe to play games like Star Wars: Galaxies, PlanetSide, and EverQuest. I am sure that many people like myself would much rather pay a one time fee of less than 225 American Dollars than have to subscribe every Week, Month, or Year to be able to continue enjoying their beloved pass-time of Online Gaming.

There are already so many things to pay for in order for one to continue their hobby. A few examples are: Computers, Internet, Accesories, and even a Console or two that support online gaming. I find it extremely disappointing that I not only have to pay for the game but that I also have to pay to play it. I am sure that when EverQuest was made a subscribe-to-play game that it lost a large enough portion of it's fanbase. I have known many people who were saddened because they did not have the money to continue playing EverQuest, especially when the Add-ons came out. I also fear that subscribe-to-play service might spread to other games and their MODs such as Half-Life, especially Team Fortress Classic and Counter-Strike, Quake 3, and Battlefield 1942, just to name a few. Even though these games are not MMORPGs they still have large enough fanbases that the idea must be tempting to the Companies that created them.

I believe that it will still be highly profitable to Sony Online Entertainment and LucasArts to do away with the subscribe-to-play system. It is my opinion that more people will be inclined to play because the game will be available to people that do not have credit cards and do not have the money to pay a subscription. I read on Star Wars: Galaxies Official Website that the subscription money is used to pay for the Servers, Bandwidth, and future updates for the game. I am sure that Sony Online Entertainment could work out a system that would enable players to help with such things.

My goal is to obtain at least 10,000 signatures before submitting this petition to Sony Online Entertainment. I feel that we can sway their opinions and change their minds. I will continue to do what I can to end subscribe-to-play gaming until these games have out lived their shelf life.
I hope every sincere gamer comes to sign this and helps contribute to our cause.
