The Shooters Party in NSW has a bill before NSW Parliment to allow minors (12-18 years) to hunt alone on public lands such as State Forests with guns, bows, knives and hunting dogs.
They want access for teenagers to over 400 public lands in NSW. They can already do this with an adult, why do they need to go alone?
Teenagers have a growing brain which is all accelerator and no brakes.
Hunters have shot people, pets and vehicles with no charges laid in NSW in the last 5 years.
State Forests are for use by all people, not just to be dominated by hunters. When was the last time you heard of someone getting run over by a mountain biker or horse rider? Other forest users are peaceful, if a hunter makes a mistake other forest users can die.
So we have a bad combination of weapons, teenagers, hunting dogs, no consequences for their actions and other forest users in the area with the hunters.
Please sign our petition for no unsupervised teenagers with guns on public lands!
